Black Jack Rules
The game of online black jack has variants dating back over 400 years ago and it’s been one of the most popular card games played in the past 100 years. Most people learn how to play black jack at a young age because the game is really simple to play, but if you don’t know the rules then you need to learn them as that’s the first step you need to take before starting journey playing blackjack.
Black jack can be played with one deck or multiple decks and most casinos choose to play with multiple decks because it limits the edge card counters can gain. To start a hand of blackjack you will need to place the amount of chips out on the table that you would like to wager. Once you have put out your bet you will be dealt two cards face up and the dealer will be dealt one card face up and one card face down.
The objective when you’re playing blackjack is to beat the dealer’s hand and in order to beat the dealer you need to be closer to 21 then the dealer is without going over 21. If you go over 21 then you will automatically bust which means you will lose your bet. Once the cards have been dealt out you will be able to take your turn. You will need to decide whether you want to hit, stand, double down or split.
One of the most important black jack rules is you should only double down in a few instances such as when your first two cards total 10 or 11 because doubling down means you’re going to double your bet and take only one card. You can only split pairs when you have a pair to split, but keep in mind it isn’t always advantageous to split your pairs. The two most common plays you’ll make is hitting and standing.
A lot of your decision should be based on what the value of your hand and the dealers face up card equals. If you have 16-17+ then you should typically stand unless the dealer is showing an ace or ten and you think they will have a high card face down as well. When you have 12-15 your decision should be based on the dealer’s face up card. If the dealer has a low valued card such as a 2-6 then you should stand because it’s likely they could bust, but if they have a 7-Ace then you should probably hit until you get a higher hand.
In most black jack online games the dealer will need to hit until they have 17 or higher and then they will need to stand. This is a benefit for the players because if they have a 6 showing for instance and then there face up card is a 10 or face card they will need to hit and the odds will be that they will bust. There are plenty of strategies that you will learn as you begin to start actually playing the game, but for now I would recommend only learning some basic strategy so you don’t overwhelm yourself.
